Bicycle riding builds a little community in neighborhood

As my kids and I pulled into our driveway with our “bike train” the other day we struck up a conversation with someone passing by. We talked about bicycling and also met for the first time as neighbors. They were new to the neighborhood and it turns out we have a lot in common.  We talked about having a BBQ together.

Fort Collins leads state in Bike to School Day schools

International Walk to School Day

Kids who walk and bike to school perform, behave better

Research shows that kids who get to school under their own power learn better than their peers who catch a ride. Results from the “Mass Experiment 2012,” a study of 20,000 Danish children ages 5-19, show, “Children who walk or cycle to school rather than being driven by their parents have an increased power of concentration and the effect of this ‘exercise’ lasts all morning.”
